What does Somni Mask do?
Somni Mask is a sleep mask that looks for REM-related eye movements and delivers adjustable light cues to support lucid dreaming practice. Sound cues are optional. Four infrared sensors and the detection firmware are on the mask itself.
What’s new compared with the original mask?
The new generation uses a new electronics board, rewritten firmware and Bluetooth controls. The app lets you adjust cue settings, choose audio and check the battery level. This replaces the original mask’s settings-file workflow for everyday adjustments.
Do I need headphones?
No. Light cues work without audio. If you choose sound, the app can play cues through your phone’s audio output, including headphones or a speaker connected to the phone.
Does the mask detect movement without a phone?
The eye-movement detection and light-cue process run on the mask. A phone is used for Bluetooth setup and, with the app, optional sound playback.
Fit & controls
Can I choose the left or right eye?
Yes. Choose module placement over the left or right eye according to your preference.
How do I adjust the fit?
The contoured eye cups create space around your eyes. Adjust the strap until the mask rests comfortably on your face.
Do I need an account or subscription?
No account or subscription is required to use the Somni app.
Can I configure the mask from a browser?
The Bluetooth configurator uses Web Bluetooth. Open it in a compatible Chrome or Edge browser to connect your mask.
Can I see the battery level?
Yes. The app displays the battery level. The module recharges over USB-C.

How do I turn the original mask on or off?
To turn it on, hold the button for two seconds, then release it. To turn it off, hold the button for two seconds.
How do I know the original mask is on?
The device plays a melody when it turns on.
Can I skip the music at startup?
Briefly press the button to skip the calm music. The device then begins its Calm Pause period.
Which settings file should I use?
Back up the file already on your device and preserve its name and location. Some original masks use settings.txt in the root directory; others use default.txt in a Configs folder. Do not rename the file to match a different layout. For help with a setting, email info@somnimask.com.
How do I connect the original mask to a computer?
Connect it with its USB cable. Hold the button for two seconds and release it. Follow the original-model instructions when editing files.
